Teamwork
Forming a Team
One of the skills and abilities employers most prize is the ability to work as part of a team. To complete this project successfully you have to work productively and cooperatively with your team. Team working means working ethically and proactively to achieve your overall target. We should also remember that members of the team will have different skills that can help you achieve your goal. Working as a team to complete a project will involve times of individual study and times of team collaboration to achieve your overall goal. You may wish to take advantage of Digital Technologies to facilitate communication, collaboration and partnership. |
Team Contracts
Each team will agree on a contract. The contract sets out the behaviour and work that your team members can expect of you. It also sets out the work and behaviour you should expect from your fellow team members and describes the sanctions you or your team members can expect if the contract is not followed. |
Using the Weekly Action Plan
To help you organise your weekly work use the Action Plan. Complete it at the start of the PBL lesson and show it to your teacher . You can use the Action Plan to check your weekly achievement. Add each of the Action Plans to your Progress Report to show evidence of your organisation. Planning & Organisation are also amongst the key skills employers wish their graduate employees to possess and be able to demonstrate. |

Selecting a Research Topic
The way you choose to answer the question will depend on the interests of the members of your team. However, we invite you to be creative in your choice and encourage out of the box thinking when you select a research topic. Your team should choose a topic that you think can have practical application to your friends and peers in SL. It should also be one that you think you can identify sufficient research sources for. Most importantly, it should be a topic that interests you and that you would like to find out more about – this will be your topic for the entire semester. |
Choosing an Interesting and Relevant Research Question for Your Team
An obvious research topic to answer the question might be Note-taking Skills and if this really interests you, that’s fine... A more out of the box topics may include sleep patterns or work-life balance, Even more blue sky thinking may lead to topics such as…. |

Searching For and Identifying Suitable Research Sources
Sources, Types and Requirements
Your will discuss with your teacher the types and number of sources that may be suitable for your research. Searching for Research Sources The IC has set up sessions to help you search for sources. Your teacher will give you a link to book a session. Source Reliability It is easy to find sources of information on virtually any topic by a simple internet search. However, how reliable is this information? How can you tell? These are important elements of media and information literacy – they also apply to non-digital sources such as TV, Magazines, Newspapers…etc Here is a Website Credibility Checklist to help assess online research sources. This is a link to a UC Berkley site on research source reliability. Referencing Sources Providing accurate references and citations for all the sources you use is at the heart of academic honesty. Integrity is also a quality employers value . In the digital world where we can cut and-paste, it is a vital component of Digital Literacy. In this project, we will ask you to use APA referencing system. This is a nice tool to help you find the correct reference format Here is an APA reference generator. |
